The following functions are performed by Peer Support Services:  

 

  • Role model/mentors to peers, the victim and the victimized 

  • Exhibits competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills, and tracks progress 

  • Serves as an advocate, provides information and direction, and emotional/mental support for unmet needs. 

  • Performs a wide range of healing tasks for young adults ages 15-34 in both formal and informal settings. 

  • Guides in goal setting – the ultimate goal is to heal and achieve a safe healthy environment by regaining independence within their community or a community of their choosing

Peer Support is provided with the goal to achieve and maintain a safe and healthy environment for individuals that are lacking  a strong support system within urban communities.
