John Solomon is a Philadelphia-based activist, advocate and innovative grassroots leader whose journey from survival to service has made him a respected voice across Pennsylvania in the fight to end cycles of violence and neglect.
At just 15 years old, John was shot in the chest and arm—a turning point in a life shaped by systemic injustice, poverty, and community violence. Not long after, he was incarcerated for a gun-related offense and spent nearly five years in state prison. It was there, while navigating the consequences of survival, that he experienced a spiritual transformation. John became a Christian while incarcerated, a decision that grounded his life in faith, accountability, and a relentless commitment to uplift others.
Since his release, John has built a track record of leadership that reflects both grit and grace. He is the founder and Executive Director of Endangered Kind, a grassroots organization committed to community safety and transformation. His work has earned recognition throughout the state—serving on Governor Josh Shapiro’s transition team, being named Citizen of the Week by The Philadelphia Citizen, and introducing former President Barack Obama during Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign.
John’s return to the very prison he was released from—this time as a guest speaker to uplift incarcerated men—underscores the power of redemption. Today, his leadership bridges neighborhoods, institutions, and generations, all in pursuit of a future where no young man is left behind.
